چکیده

A measure is 1-rectifiable if there is a countable union of finite length curves whose complement has zero measure. We characterize 1-rectifiable Radon measures μ in n-dimensional Euclidean space for all n ≥ 2 in terms of positivity of the lower density and finiteness of a geometric square function, which loosely speaking, records in an L gauge the extent to which μ admits approximate tangent lines, or has rapidly growing density ratios, along its support. In contrast with the classical theorems of Besicovitch, Morse and Randolph, and Moore, we do not assume an a priori relationship between μ and 1-dimensional Hausdorff measure H. We also characterize purely 1-unrectifiable Radon measures, i.e. locally finite measures that give measure zero to every finite length curve. Characterizations of this form were originally conjectured to exist by P. Jones. Along the way, we develop an L variant of P. Jones’ traveling salesman construction, which is of independent interest.

Multiscale Analysis of 1-rectifiable Measures: Necessary Conditions

We repurpose tools from the theory of quantitative rectifiability to study the qualitative rectifiability of measures in R, n ≥ 2. To each locally finite Borel measure μ, we associate a function J̃2(μ, x) which uses a weighted sum to record how closely the mass of μ is concentrated near a line in the triples of dyadic cubes containing x. We show that J̃2(μ, ·) < ∞ μ-a.e. is a necessary condition ...

RIESZ s - EQUILIBRIUM MEASURES ON d - RECTIFIABLE SETS

Let A be a compact set in Rp of Hausdorff dimension d. For s ∈ (0, d), the Riesz s-equilibrium measure μs is the unique Borel probability measure with support in A that minimizes Is(μ) := " 1 |x − y|s dμ(y)dμ(x) over all such probability measures. If A is strongly (Hd , d)-rectifiable, then μs converges in the weak-star topology to normalized d-dimensional Hausdorff measure restricted to A as s...

Lp-ESTIMATES FOR THE VARIATION FOR SINGULAR INTEGRALS ON UNIFORMLY RECTIFIABLE SETS

The L (1 < p < ∞) and weak-L estimates for the variation for CalderónZygmund operators with smooth odd kernel on uniformly rectifiable measures are proven. The L boundedness and the corona decomposition method are two key ingredients of the proof.

A new class of ( H k , 1 ) - rectifiable subsets of metric spaces ∗

The main motivation of this paper arises from the study of Carnot–Carathéodory spaces, where the class of 1-rectifiable sets does not contain smooth non-horizontal curves; therefore a new definition of rectifiable sets including non-horizontal curves is needed. This is why we introduce in any metric space a new class of curves, called continuously metric differentiable of degree k, which are Hö...
